Position: Customer Service Clerk (NSGEU Local 79)

Permanent, Part-Time

Department: Campus Bookstore

Annual Full Time Salary: $32,150 - $36,157 (Group 3)

Under the direction and co-ordination of the Assistant Manager, the Customer Service Clerk provides exceptional customer service and merchandising to the campus store clientele and participates in special off-site promotions. The position will also provide back up and support to other key campus store positions.

Responsibilities

Duties as the Customer Service Clerk include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting customers with transactions as required using point of sale equipment.
  • Providing expertise on all store initiatives and products to Campus Store customers and University stakeholders including promotions, sales, placement of course materials, placement of merchandise, availability of course materials and merchandise.
  • Utilizing the Retail Operating system (MBS) for product and inventory information to resolve customer inquiries.
  • Supporting timely fulfilment of e-commerce orders and following up on all outstanding customer related issues.
  • Working Campus Store special events such as sporting events, convocation, author book signings.
  • Coordinating activities with other Customer Service Clerks, as required.
  • Supporting the Assistant Manager in purchasing products for resale within Campus Store.
  • Merchandising new and existing product utilizing store fixtures to create attractive and enticing displays.
  • Utilizing the Retail Operating System to create sales events, execute markdowns, maintaining on hand accuracy and providing sell through data to the Assistant Manager, as required.
  • Utilizing the Retail Operating System to initiate reorders on high sell through products.
  • Opening and closing the campus Store as directed including securing daily cash receipts in the safe, locking safe, cash room and stores, ringing off the cash terminals.
  • Providing back up and support to shipper/receiver including receiving, pricing, and replenishing products to the sales floor as directed by Assistant Manager.
  • Preparing and packing merchandise in mobile kiosk and preparing signage including unpacking and checking merchandise when received at site of special event, and re-packing for return to Bookstore; setting up events; reconciling items sold and receipts; and ensuring monies are kept secure.
  • Maintaining accuracy and integrity in handling of monies and inventory at out of store events.
  • Assisting in the transportation of the mobile kiosk to various campus events as well as off-site events.
  • Engaging with various stakeholders (i.e. Alumni, students, faculty, staff, etc.) to raise the profile of the campus store during specials events.
  • Providing support for Campus Store activities including textbook buybacks, inventory, grad ring appointments, and deliveries around campus.
  • Performing reconciliation in the cash office in the absence of the Customer Service Representative (CSR).
  • Receiving incoming e-commerce orders.
  • Determining ability to fulfil order from existing stock and flags order as such.
  • If stock exists, filling orders and delivering orders to shipping with customer information.
  • Working to resolve any issues with fulfilled orders in consultation with the Customer Service Representative.

What you'll need

Qualifications

To be the successful Customer Service Clerk you will have completed high school and have a minimum of one (1) year related experience with demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills; strong customer service skills; and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
