What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor as a member of the maintenance team, you are responsible for cleaning and minor maintenance duties in campus buildings and grounds. Typical duties include: mopping, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors; garbage disposal; cleaning washrooms and replacing supplies; moving heavy furniture and equipment; opening and closing buildings; readying premises staff, students and facility users; setting up classrooms and meeting rooms to specifications; and performing maintenance such as cutting grass, shoveling snow, and cleaning walkways; as well as other related duties. Hours of work are day and evening shifts.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include the completion of high school or GED and a minimum of three (3) months of experience in custodial work. The successful candidate must possess good communication and interpersonal skills and thrive in a team environment. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Other combinations of education/training and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in an institutional or commercial setting.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive hourly wage for this position ranging from $15.27 - $18.48 . This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees collective agreement (Operational Services) for the College.
