Reporting to the Associate Vice-President - External Affairs, the Creative Design Specialist is responsible for designing, creating, and executing high-quality, cutting-edge promotional and communications materials for Saint Mary's University, its faculties and departments. The position is part of an important core team (the External Affairs Department) which guides the university in the adoption of brand standards, works responsively with many departments and responds to their design needs, and works to ensure consistency and high standards in all internal and external publications, both digital and print. Special attention to digital needs is important including the ability to create images for web and social media. Experience in photography and video desired.

This position is considered a two (2) year contract position with the University and salary range will be $55,000 annually.

Qualifications

To be the successful Creative Design Specialist you will possess a Diploma in either Graphic Design and Print Production or Photography and Digital Imaging or Photography and a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of directly related work experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to handle and maintain confidential material are all requirements for this position. You must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize work assignments and deliver by the appropriate deadlines and the ability to work independently and in a team setting. The successful candidate will also have the ability to research, process, organize and present information interestingly and convincingly. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign along with being current on social media is necessary in this role. Assets for this position include knowledge in print production and photography and web editing skills. The successful candidate must have the ability to work evenings and weekends as required. Experience in photography and video desired.
