Responsibilities

Acadia seeks a Coordinator, Campus Health Promotion in our Counselling Centre to fulfill a crucial role in enhancing the health and wellness of our Acadia's student body. Leading the strategic planning for health promotion work at Acadia, the Coordinator will collaborate with staff, faculty and community stakeholders to ensure that students have access to optimal health and wellness opportunities and lifelong learning.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Conduct student assessments using approved surveys to assess health status, needs, and assets. Analyze data to inform program planning.
  • Develop and oversee a campus health promotion plan, ensuring it aligns with institutional goals and is periodically reviewed and updated.
  • Establish, manage, and evaluate health and wellness programs.
  • Collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and community stakeholders to set health promotion goals and develop impactful programming.
  • Provide leadership within Acadia's Alcohol & Substance Use Harms Reduction Committee, working with other post-secondary institutions in Nova Scotia to implement harm reduction strategies.
  • Mobilize committees focused on systems, policies, procedures, and environmental changes related to health promotion.
  • Develop a peer education program in collaboration with student leaders and peer support offices.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders to develop culturally relevant health and wellness programming and resources.
  • Manage the Campus App and Health and Wellness Calendar to ensure effective communication and engagement.
  • Deliver presentations to students, staff, and faculty on various health topics.
  • Manage and evaluate social media channels to effectively reach and engage with the student population.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • We are seeking candidates who possess a Bachelor's Degree with demonstrated experience in health promotion program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Applicants must have a strong understanding of evidence-based health promotion frameworks and strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively for diverse audiences.
  • Applicants are expected to show evidence of a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate educational programming for a broad and diverse audience, using a range of educational approaches/modalities.
  • Solid research, report writing, facilitation, and outreach skills.
  • Experience using a variety of educational and promotional tools, including social media.
  • Applicants must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and comfortable working in a technology supported environment.
