NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Cook. This is a seasonal position from September to June, renewable year to year.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head of Information Technology and Hospitality, as a member of the Food Services team, you are responsible for assigning and coordinating cooking activities of kitchen staff; preparing menus, ordering and storing supplies; and preparing meals according to prescribed standards; as well as other related duties.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a high school diploma or GED, a Certificate in a Cook Program, or a diploma in a Culinary Program and a Cook Red Seal Certification plus a minimum of three (3) years of recent and industry-related experience. The successful candidate must have experience in acquisition and inventory management and in operating a food service venue. The successful candidate must possess good communication and interpersonal skills and thrive in a team environment. Experience in menu planning and costing will be considered an asset. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment and to candidates with experience with large quantity cooking.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $20.40 to $21.23 per hour. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees collective agreement (Operational Services Group) for the College.
