The Construction Project Manager is responsible for providing a professional service that uses specialized project management techniques to oversee the planning and construction of a retail site project, from beginning to end, including but not limited to design oversight and reviews, construction drawing input, coordination of contractors and internal stakeholders, status reporting, preparing the store for takeover by operations, and resolution of all deficiencies. This role is responsible to control a project's time, cost, scope and quality.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manages, organizes, coordinates and monitors activities of store development projects in cooperation with other internal stakeholders, outside agencies, contractors and design professionals
  • Collaborate and build strong relationships with key stakeholders in providing design services, including submittal review, change management and conflict resolution
  • Interpret the application of design criteria; check construction drawings and specifications for accuracy of design and completeness
  • Maximizing the resource efficiency of the general and sub-contractors
  • Serve as the senior-level liaison, conducting site inspections at numerous locations in the province to oversee contractor's work as it is being completed; verify contract conformance with documents, specifications and materials
  • Manage all change management, including coordination and reporting
  • Approve work as complete for payment
  • Manages the front-end assessment to develop site specific budgets, inputs for overall capital plan and responsible for project budget expenditures

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures with appropriate management staff; implement improvements
  • Works cooperatively with other NSLC employees and private organizations toward mutual objectives
  • Available after normal working hours to deal with delays or emergencies at the jobsite
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned; some travel, primarily within the province as required
  • Promote value engineering process to minimize NSLC cost
  • Manage project standards and specifications
  • Report project status with NSLC Stakeholders correct schedule, cost and quality of the construction as necessary
  • Demonstrate commitment to the NSLC's social responsibility mandate and KORE Values
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What you'll need

Qualifications

As a qualified candidate, you will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Management or related field
  • At least 10 years of construction experience within commercial and/or retail sector
  • Extensive experience in the specification's interpretation and coordination of architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings

As the ideal candidate, you will also have:

  • Certification in Project Management
  • Functional CAD design is preferred
  • Experience working with a Contractor

An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
