What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Network Systems Instructor: Specific areas of instruction may include Cisco routing and switching technologies included within the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CCNA Security, or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) are considered assets.

Systems Administration and Enterprise Virtualization Instructor: Specific areas of instruction may include computer hardware and software, Microsoft client operating systems, Linux, and virtualization administration using VMware vSphere. Certifications such as Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA), VMware Certified Professional are considered assets.

Windows Server and Database Administration Instructor: Specific areas of instruction may include computer hardware and software, Microsoft client operating systems, and Windows Server. Preference will be given to those with Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), MCSA: SQL Server Database Administration are considered assets.

As an accountable team player, and someone who is committed to NBCC's achievements, the successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a Diploma in information technology or a related field with a concentration in networking, and a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related work experience, OR a Bachelor's Degree in computer science, or related Degree with a concentration in networking, and a minimum of three (3) years of recent and related work experience. Experience must include the program courses listed above. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,933 to $2,808 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,067 bi-weekly based on their level of post-secondary experience. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees collective agreement (Operational Services Group) for the College.
