What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Instructional areas and courses within the IT program area may include but not be limited to: Microsoft Client and Server Operating Systems, Linux Interpersonal Communications and Fundamentals of Web Design. Instructional areas in the Business program may include Microsoft Office applications, Business Math, Marketing, Project Management, Business Information Systems, Business Writing and Employment Strategies. You will be responsible for program planning, and other related duties. The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a two-year Diploma in business or information technology, with a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related experience; OR a Degree in business or in an information technology related area, and a minimum of three (3) years of recent and related experience. Related experience would include working environments where both business and Information technology skills can be demonstrated. This may include supporting IT systems, managerial and supervisory functions, supporting a business environment, etc. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how these qualifications are met on their resumes.

A comprehensive knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel, is required. Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience teaching, particularly in a post-secondary environment. Preference may also be given to candidates who possess related IT industry certification(s). Knowledge of CompTIA A+ would be considered an asset.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,973 to $2,780 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,036 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees collective agreement (Education, Instructional Group) for the College.
