What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include, but not limited to: Service Learning, Fundamentals of Web Design, Consumer Behavior & Marketing Strategies, Typography, Colour Theory and Design Software, Responsive Web Design, Branding, Professional Practice, Communicating with Internal & External Clients, Emerging Trends in Graphic Design, Career & Freelance Planning and other related topics. The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices. You will also plan, evaluate and monitor student practicum placements.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a two-year Diploma in Digital Media or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related professional experience; OR a Degree in Digital Media or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of recent and related professional experience.

Applicants must have extensive experience using software applications/tools; visual/communications design (graphic and communications design principles and practices inclusive of typography, colour theory and layout as well as creative process and methodologies used to craft visual design solutions from conception to implementation, practical application of design principles/practices for publication design, editorial design, information design, copywriting, identity branding, packaging design, display design and print production); marketing (consumer behavior, emerging trends in marketing platforms, reaching target audience); interactive media design (responsive web and mobile design, social and integrated media), and video-editing software, capturing quality digital images and video.

Applicants must be highly proficient in Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design, Dreamweaver, Animate, After Effects and Lightroom. Excellent design and conceptual skills as evidenced in personal portfolio are also required. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience working in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,692 to $2,685 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $2,932 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees collective agreement (Education, Instructional Group) for the College.
