NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Community College Instructor.

This is a full time term position from August 19, 2019 to December 18, 2020.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include, but are not limited to: mathematics including calculus, physics, drafting, strength of materials, materials technology, and other related structural engineering subjects as required. The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices. You will also plan, evaluate and monitor student practicum placements.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a diploma in civil engineering technology (preferably Structural option), with a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related work experience, or a bachelor of science in civil engineering with a minimum of three (3) years of recent and related work experience. Related experience must include structural systems design and analysis, knowledge of steel design and connections, truss design, timber design, concrete reinforcement, structural detailing, structural design software and REVIT.

Knowledge of project management and CAD, as well as civil engineering lab experience, would be considered assets.

Candidates must be competent in the use of MS Office Suite.

Candidates must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Professional Technologist (PTech). Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,993 to $2,808 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,067 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees collective agreement (Education, Instructional Group) for the College.
