NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent for the position of a casual Community College Instructor.

This position will be required from August 19, 2019 to December 31, 2019 for 36.25 hours per week.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for ensuring planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include, but are not limited to: power systems (theory and lab), thermodynamics, applied mechanics, rotating electrical machines, electro-technology, mathematics, and other related subjects. The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices. You may be involved in the planning, evaluation and monitoring of student practicum placements.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a 2nd or 3rd class Power Engineering license (or license eligible in the Province of NB) and five years of recent industry experience.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

A comprehensive knowledge of MS Office Suite is required. Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates with a CET, P. Tech or C. Tech designation, or who have experience as a coop mentor or teaching in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,993 to $2,808 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,067 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees collective agreement (Education, Instructional Group) for the College.
