NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Part-time Term Instructor. Our College is committed to transforming lives and communities. This part-time term appointment (21 hours per week) will be from September 2019- May 2020.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you will be responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses may include: trade-related math, blueprint reading, residential fixtures, drainage and venting, pipe and fitting assembly, water distribution, hydronic heating, and other related courses. The successful incumbent must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to plan and organize effectively in a team environment, and an eager ability to integrate technology and active learning techniques into teaching practices. This person demonstrates accountability and takes pride in organizational success.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a high school diploma, or equivalency, a valid Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing with interprovincial standard and a minimum of three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journeyperson's level. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a post-secondary environment. Working experience in pipe fitting is considered an asset.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive hourly salary for this position ranging from $27.49 to $38.73. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $42.30 hourly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees (Education - Instructional) for the College.
