The New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame is seeking a dynamic and energetic professional to join our small, but mighty team. You are the ideal candidate if you are bilingual, highly organized, love variety, and can see yourself becoming passionate about telling the stories of New Brunswick's most accomplished athletes and sport builders. The successful candidate will need to be equally adept at communications and operations, have an excellent capacity for multitasking, a good sense of humour and ease with interpersonal relationships. This is a full time position, working from the NBSHF's office in downtown Fredericton.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations - Assumes responsibility for coordinating and performing operational initiatives.

  • Manage, sort and process incoming and outgoing correspondence via email, fax, mail and courier.
  • Maintain the office file systems, including maintenance of databases.
  • Act as a resource person regarding the building, museum operations, and services of the organization to direct incoming calls and/or emails to the appropriate individual.
  • Coordinating facility bookings, security system and liaising with building management regarding maintenance and operational issues.
  • Type, format, photocopy and/or assemble a variety of documents, materials, and meeting packages.
  • Maintain an inventory of NBSHF materials and publications (in-house and in storage), and track distribution.
  • Tracks office supply inventory and coordinates supply orders.
  • Maintain office equipment and coordinate services with external providers.
  • Assist with the coordination and operational aspects of the Sports Ambassadors initiative.
  • Prepare and distribute minutes of the Board of Governors meetings.
  • Maintain records of nominations electronically and in paper form.
  • Act as NBSHF's Security Officer.
  • Provide administrative support and assist the Executive Director with a variety of projects, special events, and duties as assigned.

Communications - Assumes responsibility for coordinating and implementing the organization's internal and external communications initiatives.

  • Act as primary point of contact for all incoming communications.
  • Respond appropriately to telephone, email, and web-based communications.
  • Coordinate and contribute to writing, editing and producing materials and publications (e.g. press releases, bi-annual newsletter, articles, letters, website content, etc.).
  • Promote NBSHF's programs and services through our member organizations and partners.
  • Coordinate and execute the social media strategy in an effort to increase NBSHF's presence on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Coordinate and implement website content updates and revisions.
  • Identify and implement new strategies to expand the reach of the organization.
  • Assist with the development of effective media relations, including coordinating media queries and fostering of relationships with key reporters, media outlets, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct quality control checks on all organizational materials and content.
  • Liaise with office staff, volunteers, clients, suppliers and partners.
  • Act as NBSHF's Privacy Officer.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Experience: 1 to 3 years experience in a similar role.
Language: English, French

  • Knowledge and/or experience with the provincial sport system would be a strong asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the non-profit sector would be a strong asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with the cultural or heritage sector would be a strong asset.

For more than 50 years, the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame has played a lead role in preserving and promoting our sports heritage. We celebrate New Brunswick's most inspiring athletes and sport builders at our annual Induction Gala and grant them permanent recognition in our provincial sports shrine. Additionally, as a non-government incorporated charity run mostly by volunteers, we operate the only Sports Museum in New Brunswick. With the mandate to strengthen New Brunswick's cultural and societal fabric, through exhibitions, programming, and outreach, the NBSHF tells the amazing stories of New Brunswick's most inspiring athletes and sport builders.
