Due to a recent vacancy, the Centre for Women in Business is searching for a Communications Manager who will be responsible for sharing the Centre’s mission, mandate and success stories using a variety of channels, and for creating opportunities to convey that message outside of our membership-based community: to the media, government representatives, sponsors, partners and potential members.

This requires a skilled storyteller and multi-tasker who understands our goal of increasing the number of women entrepreneurs and business leaders in the Atlantic region, and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs through expert training and resources.

Located on the campus of Mount Saint Vincent University since 1992, we have been here to assist women at every stage of their entrepreneurial journey; as they launch their business ideas, establish the ventures and thrive as entrepreneurs.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

The Communications Manager is responsible for member engagement from a communications and marketing perspective by providing ongoing opportunities for exposure that can be measured through analytics and monitoring of social media engagement.

This means collecting and preparing member blogs, creating monthly spotlight stories (in written or podcast format), supporting and encouraging members in the use of our membership directory, creating a monthly e-newsletter and regular email promotions, updating member news and announcements on the Centre’s website, and creating regular social media shout-outs that showcase the incredible expertise within our membership community.

What you'll need

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have a passion for helping women to succeed in business.

They will know how to execute and even improve upon our current communication strategy, and understand the importance of maintaining a consistent brand voice and image in the marketplace.

They will not only get the power of social media, but know exactly how to leverage it to achieve the Centre’s objectives.

Programs like WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud, MailChimp and PowerPoint should be second nature, along with drafting all forms of written communications. Writing and editing skills are key components of this role.

The Communications Manager will also be comfortable using database software, will provide regular support to the Events Coordinator and Membership/Sponsorship Coordinator roles, and will excel in a small team environment.

This position requires a bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or a relevant field, along with five-plus years of experience in a communications and/or marketing role.
