The New Brunswick (NB) Social Pediatrics Research Program is a new initiative that was developed with the
primary purpose of improving the quality of life, health and long-term outcomes of children and their families. This program has its roots firmly embedded in the social determinants of health, such as income, education, and food security. Mitigating the challenges associated with these issues at an early age, minimizing disparities, and preventing childhood trauma are key to improving the current and future health outcomes of our children. In recognition of this, Social Pediatrics has just been identified as a priority of the New Brunswick Government.

The New Brunswick (NB) Social Pediatrics Research Program has implemented the Parent-Child Assistance Program (PCAP) to serve high risk pregnant and parenting mothers with alcohol and/or drug use disorders, and their families.
