The Opportunity
We are looking for a Chief of Staff to help Highline Beta's team function at top velocity and quality. You'll work directly with Highline Beta's co-founders, Marcus Daniels and Ben Yoskovitz.
You'll be working on improving processes around go-to-market, business development, corporate-startup collaboration and more. You'll be involved in a variety of projects, and support the broader team in venture creation and venture studio development.
This is very much a "get your hands dirty" opportunity, to be involved in growing Highline Beta successfully. You'll need to be extremely comfortable with ambiguity and context shifting. You'll need to be capable of leading multiple projects at the same time in a proactive and timely way, moving fast, shifting constantly but staying incredibly well organized and extremely communicative & responsive. If you see something that can be improved, you jump in and get it done.
This is a unique opportunity to join Highline Beta in a key role and learn how we build companies and develop our future strategy for scaling the venture studio model. We are looking for you to stay in this role for 24 months, at which point, we'd want you to move into another role within Highline Beta, with one of our portfolio companies, or start your own company.
We're aiming to have the person start in January, 2025. The job is in Toronto, ON with an expectation of being in the office ~2-3 days/week.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Automate and manage various key processes in go-to-market, business development, corporate-startup collaboration and venture creation
- Lead special projects in close collaboration with the Founding Partners
- Maintain our network of investors and corporate partners through frequent communication and activations
- Maintain our online presence (i.e. website, social media, etc.)
- Manage vendor and key stakeholder relationships
- Support venture creation and corporate innovation engagements (i.e. the work we do to build & fund startups)
- Support stakeholder data collection, communication & reporting
- Support Highline Hub
What you'll need
Qualifications
- 2-5 years of work experience in a fast-paced, high performance environment
- Able to work very quickly and efficiently ("responsiveness is the only competitive advantage"), while staying very well organized
- Proven entrepreneurial and self-starter mindset
- Insanely good written and verbal communication skills (every job description says this, but in this case it's truly important)
- Eager to learn and explore a variety of future career paths (in venture studios, venture creation, startups, corporate innovation, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a related field
- Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is a plus given our global corporate & investor stakeholder base
