Your Role:

As CFO, you will work closely with the cofounders (CEO and CTO) to deliver financial clarity that enables the company to confidently pull levers for rapid growth.

This role could be part-time or full-time depending on the individual.

About You:

Super organized. To the point of compulsion.

Attention to detail. You lose sleep over typos and bad formulas.

Ability to work heads down and maintain high productivity.

A love for metrics, and a deep knowledge of those particular to SAAS. You must know who David Skok is.

Ability to confidently work within and contribute to a startup evironment that moves at pace and to make rapid decisions with imperfect information.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Investment / investor relations:

· Equity fundraising.

· Create briefing documents for approaching new prospective investors.

· Maintain strong, ongoing relations and communication with existing investors.

Lender relations:

· Own all lender relations.

· Identify and where appropriate access all available leverage sources.

· Maintain strong, ongoing relations and communication with existing lenders.

Financial planning and budgeting:

· Ensure maximum visibility regarding future revenues and cash levels (support CEO in sales forecasting process).

· Maintain rolling 12-24 month pro formas.

· Ensure management is regularly briefed on and understands budget expectations.

· Implement policies and controls over budget vs. actual performance.

Treasury:

· Define and oversee cash management and investment policy.

· Oversee cash controls.

Performance enhancement:

· Analyze individual / organization performance to identify opportunities for improvement.

· Identify track & report key metrics and performance indicators.

· Make recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance & organizational value.

Accounting & Reporting:

· Maintain all internal and external financial reporting to board, management and other stakeholders.

· Oversee all internal controls and procedures.

· Oversee all government reporting.

Board / stakeholders:

· Maintain strong, ongoing relations and communication with the board.

· Provide ongoing board committees with the tools, processes and information needed to conduct their affairs.

· Quarterly written industry briefings to give summary view of news on our customers, partners, industry and related M & A activity.

Taxation:

· Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, provincial, state sales & income tax reporting requirements.

· Recommendations to improve SRED eligibility.

· Oversee SRED filing process.

Strategic planning:

· Support quarterly and annual strategic planning process.

· Corporate development: Provide framework and criteria for assessing non-organic growth opportunities (mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships & alliances).

· Maintain database of potential transaction candidates.

· Complete (with management team) a revised business plan that can be shared with the investment community.

Sales:

· Support sales on a priority basis as needed. Could include contract support, ROI modelling, partnering discussions, etc.

Hiring:

· Oversee hiring process for all non-technical staff.

· Support creation of job descriptions for all positions.

· Benchmark compensation practices.

Professionals:

· Own auditor relationship.

Risk management:

· Define risk management practices & measures

· Review insurance coverage and all policies

What you'll need

Qualifications

The good stuff:

· MBA + CPA.

· 5+ years of experience, preferably in a high-growth SAAS company.

· Proven experience managing board relations and engaging external financial stakeholders.
