In continuing our journey of resilience, we are currently seeking a Cellar Supervisor for the Saint John Brewery. Reporting to the Manager of Brewing Operations, the supervisor is responsible for all cellar operations, including beer clarification, filtration, CIPs and transfers to packaging.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of 4 operators, manage cellar processes, transfers, raw material receipts and associated duties while maintaining safety, quality and productivity standards.
  • Schedule all tasks and processing including racking, run-in, filtration, blending, tanker loading and unloading, packaging transfers, malt and syrup unloading, CIPs, material make-up, manpower, cleaning and equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate production records
  • Develop and implement SOPs and oversee the training of new operators
  • Troubleshoot quality and productivity issues
  • Initiate and implement quality and productivity improvement projects
  • Schedule yearly shutdown projects and maintenance in cellars
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and procedures
  • Make recommendations for capital projects
  • Lead communication meetings and take charge of cross departmental problem solving sessions
  • Relieve for the Brewing/Fermentation supervisor
  • Share on-call duties in all brewing departments
  • Attend regular departmental and inter-departmental meetings
  • Shift work and overtime as required

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • Post secondary graduate, preferably in science or engineering
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably a food manufacturing environment)
  • Strong computer skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with Flowmation software (BIS/QIS) and Oracle would be an asset
  • Familiarity with Oracle software would be an asset
  • Proven record to lead teams and strong interpersonal skills
  • Dynamic and self-motivated
  • Strong time management skills, multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Must be self-directed and have ability to adapt to a changing environment
