NBCC is currently seeking dynamic and competent individual for the position of Tutor. Our College is committed to transforming lives and communities. What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Student Development, the Tutor will be willing to tutor in a variety of subject areas which may include: voltage drop power loss and AC theory.

Key responsibilities, of the tutor are to:

  • Teach and assess a student’s knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis;
  • Work comfortably with people from diverse backgrounds;
  • Demonstrate patience and positive attitude in establishing an encouraging learning environment;
  • Use creativity to motivate students and to foster a positive student learning experience;
  • Explain concepts to others effectively, and in an engaging way;
  • Be open to new ideas and learning strategies;
  • Provide regular student progress updates to the student and to the appropriate NBCC contact.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a high school diploma, or equivalent, and completion of Block One Apprenticeship in Electrical Construction. Tutoring may be available through face-to-face or remote tutoring arrangements including Skype, Polycom, and Google Hangout. The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and have a sincere passion to help others learn. Experience with accessibility services would be an asset. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working as a tutor, or similar position, in a post-secondary environment.
