NBCC is currently seeking a dynamic and competent leader for the position of Community College Instructor.

This casual appointment is for 36.25 hours per week from January to May, 2019.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Department Head, as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include: flow controls and accessories; air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical and blueprint reading fundamentals; refrigerants and oils; specialty tools and equipment; safety; motors and compressors; valves and piping; installations; and trade-related mathematics. The successful candidate will teach in all 4 blocks of the apprenticeship program. The successful incumbent will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity a high school diploma, or equivalency, a valid Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and a minimum of three (3) years of recent, related work experience at the Journeyperson's level. Candidates should also possess working ability in MS Office. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a competitive salary for this position ranging $1,983 to $2,794 bi-weekly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $3,051 bi-weekly, based on their level of post-secondary education. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees (Education - Instructional) for the College.
