Position: Case Competition Coordinator (Contract to May 31, 2019)

Department: Sobey School of Business

Per Annum Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 + 4% lieu of vacation

The Sobey School of Business is seeking a higher education specialist to serve as a Case Competition Coordinator. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Academic, the Case Competition Coordinator directly contributes to Saint Mary's strategic commitment to experiential learning by coordinating the School's participation in case competitions at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of programming, activities and administrative processes that promote student success and build brand awareness and reputation and that are consistent with our commitment to excellence in learning, engagement, inclusiveness. 

What you'll do

Responsibilities

The Coordinator is responsible for creating a culture of case competition success by:

  • Developing a structure for the School's participation in more than a dozen case competitions (annually) by designing and implementing best practices, systems and processes that support positive student experiences and high performance.
  • Developing and collaborating in the delivery of a case competition prep program that, grounded in student development theory, will groom participants for case competitions by building team, leadership, analytical and presentation skills.
  • Working to increase access to and participation in case competitions by evaluating opportunities, collaborating with faculty to promote opportunities to participate, and coordinating outreach to a wide-diversity of students.
  • Engaging faculty and providing them with the support, resources and materials that will enable their effective leadership as coaches and advisors.
  • Collaborating with program leadership to integrate case competition participation into the life and culture of the program(s).

What you'll need

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Degree in higher education, business, education, psychology or related field (Masters preferred).
  • Experience in post-secondary education in any of the following or a closely related area: student success; advising; academic and curriculum processes; student engagement activities.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops and/or program development and delivery.
  • Evidence of highly effective verbal and written communication skills including delivering presentations.
  • Experience as a participant (coach, advisor, student, etc.) in case competitions.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively manage and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
