WHAT WE OFFER

Full-Time| Continuing | Fredericton | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:30 am - 4:00 pm | 40 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

  • The nature of the work will vary depending on the task and may be in or out of doors under varying conditions.
  • The work may involve work at heights or in tunnels.

Salary Range: $28.22 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

  • Reporting to the Carpenter Shop Foreperson, the Carpenter provides skilled maintenance and construction work in the carpentry trade at the Journeyperson Level.
  • Work as a carpenter alone or as a member of a crew employed in maintenance or construction.
  • Prepare job estimates as to the quantity of labour and materials required to complete the job.
  • Allocate and supervise the work of Trades Helpers and/or Labourers.
  • Perform elementary duties of another trade to expedite the completion of the assigned task.
  • Apply appropriate safety precautions. Ensure minimum hazard to self and others.
  • Ensure the care and preservation of assigned tools and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Formal basic education as required by the N.B. Department of Labour to meet Journeyperson standards for the Carpentry Trade.
  • Must possess a valid current license to practice the Carpentry Trade.
  • 3+ years of diversified experience at the Journeyperson level in the Carpentry Trade with a concentration on maintenance.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with the National Building Code and the New Brunswick Health and Safety Act.

Additional Strengths:

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and to work from sketches and diagrams.
  • Ability to work with other tradespeople and versatility in handling and use of tools of the trade.
