POSITION: Carpenter (CUPE, Local 4491) Temporary, Full-time 

ASSIGNMENT: Start Date: April 23, 2019 - End Date: August 30, 2019

DEPARTMENT: Facilities Management

SALARY: $26.67 per hour + 4% in lieu of vacation

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance & Operations, and under the direction of the Lead Carpenter, the Carpenter installs, repairs, and maintains buildings such as windows, walls, roofs, signage, flooring, doors, locks, furniture, and other building related items. They will establish good working knowledge of all building carpentry schematics, drawings, and manuals within the complex. The Carpenter will work closely with any outside agency to perform work on the above noted systems and use any such collaboration to enhance knowledge and trouble-shooting expertise.

Qualifications

We require a Certified Carpenter Tradesperson with two (2) years related experience in construction or maintenance. In addition, the successful candidate is an individual who is able to communicate and interact effectively in a positive manner while maintaining positive working relationships with others and deliver quality service. The ability to work alone and complete tasks with minimal supervision and work within a team environment is essential; and perform all duties in a safe manner, by following health and safety legislation and all required safe work practices and procedures, in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage.
