PLATO has offices on or near Indigenous communities across Canada, in Fredericton, Sault Ste Marie, Ottawa/Gatineau, Regina, Prince Albert, Calgary, and Vancouver.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Business Analyst to join our dynamic team. The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in analyzing and defining IT requirements and ensuring that technology solutions meet the needs of the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background combined with excellent analytical and communication skills.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and translate them into technical requirements.
- Conduct detailed analysis of current systems, processes, and workflows to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop functional specifications (FRD), user stories & personas, process maps and Requirement Traceability Matrix (RTM) for IT projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Facilitate meetings and workshops with business stakeholders and IT teams to gather and prioritize requirements.
- Work closely with development and QA teams to ensure accurate and timely implementation of solutions.
- Perform gap analysis and provide post-implementation support.
- Support project managers in project planning, monitoring progress, and ensuring delivery within scope and timelines.
- Assist in user acceptance testing and coordinate rollout of new systems and enhancements.
- Active participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
What you'll need
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience (5+) as Business Analyst or similar role in client projects in technology.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with business process modeling tools and techniques.
- Experience working with government would be preferred.
- Excellent client facing communication skills both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with enterprise software solutions and IT infrastructure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Jira, Trello, Miro, DevOps etc.
- Relevant certifications like - CBAP, PMI-PBA are preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent client facing communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Highly organized, adaptive to change, strong inclination to continuous learning.
- Believes in coaching and mentoring team members wherever needed.
