What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Budget & Reporting, and as a member of Team Finance, the Budget Analyst will be accountable for assisting in the development, planning and coordinating of budgets, and the ongoing monitoring and reporting of financial results and data to support our College.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering, analyzing, and communicating budget information through the use of enterprise financial data systems and software applications (including MS Excel, Access and others)
  • Fostering relationships in order to support programs or processes
  • Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting functions
  • Ad-hoc research and variance analysis on program revenues and expenses
  • Help identify and propose process improvements that promote operational efficiencies in the unit and across the College
  • Other related duties as required

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • A diploma with a focus in accounting or a degree in an accounting related discipline with recent and related work experience
  • Enrolment in, or completion of, a Chartered Professional Accountant designation will be considered an asset
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Access
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate data in Excel using advanced functions such as VLook-Up and pivot tables
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Demonstrated relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong teamwork and results orientation with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to meet deadlines with minimal supervision

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a finance/budget role in a post-secondary environment and/or those who possess an accounting designation and five (5) years of experience.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
