Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, and as a member of Team Finance, the Budget Analyst will be accountable for assisting in the development, planning and coordinating of budgets, and the ongoing monitoring and reporting of financial results and data to support our College.

Responsibilities

Typical duties will include gathering, analyzing, communicating budget information through the use of enterprise financial data systems and software applications (including MS Excel, Access and others); fostering relationships in order to support programs or processes; assisting with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting functions; as well as ad-hoc research and variance analysis on program revenues and expenses. The incumbent will also be expected to help identify and propose process improvements which promote operational efficiencies in the unit and across the College. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in progressively complex financial environments and/or roles, and working with various tools and systems for administering, analyzing and reporting financial information

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a diploma from a two-year business program with a focus in accounting and a minimum of five (5) years of recent and related work experience; OR a university degree in an accounting related discipline with a minimum of three (3) years of recent and related work experience. Candidates must demonstrate advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and/or Access and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook. Specifically candidates must have strong spreadsheet experience and skills required for analyzing and manipulating data in Excel using advanced functions such as VLook-Up and working with pivot tables. Candidates screened-in for this competition will be required to complete a test using Excel. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

The successful candidate will demonstrate relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong teamwork and results orientation with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working in a finance/budget role in a post-secondary environment and/or those who possess an accounting designation.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent.

Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive annual salary for this position ranging from $43,654 to $60,996. Successful candidates having an accounting designation may be eligible for a maximum salary of up to $67,028.
