New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is committed to transforming lives and communities. The College is currently seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Bilingual Instructor at the Dorchester Penitentiary in Dorchester, New Brunswick. This is a casual position from October 2022 to March 2023, with the possibility of extension.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Professional Learning, you are responsible for teaching GED to students. This includes planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and maintaining a positive learning environment; and instructing and evaluating students.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, or related field, with recent and related work experience
  • A New Brunswick teacher's certificate
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal background check
  • The successful candidate will be asked to show proof of vaccination before an offer of employment is made

Preference may be given to candidates who:

  • Have a minimum of three years of recent and related work experience
  • Have experience working in a correctional facility
  • Have experience teaching adult learners

Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these requirements on their resume.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NBUPPE -Education (Instructional) agreement for the College.
