The Centre for Enhanced Teaching & Learning promotes a strong culture of teaching & learning excellence, helps educators and faculties develop and deliver excellent course and curricula, supports educators use of instructional technology and media, and facilitates the development and use of exceptional teaching & learning spaces, both physical and virtual.

Full-time | Renewable mid- August - mid-June | Fredericton | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 9:30 am - 4 pm | 30 hours per week

Salary Range: $18.54 - $22.54 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Learning Innovations Manager, the Audio-Visual Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the teaching and learning open-access multimedia lab. They will oversee the planning, coordination, and scheduling of all services and operations within the lab under the guidance of the Learning Innovations Manager.

  • Act as the initial point of contact in the lab for self-directed media projects for faculty, staff, and students assisting with creative and technical support and expertise with lab software and hardware.
  • Assist with and provide printing facilities and expertise including the printing of large format prints for poster presentations, conferences, and events.
  • Assist clients with graphic layout and coordinate large format printing jobs for clients.
  • Advise student producers and faculty members on self-directed video and media production projects done in lab and lab studio.
  • Assist in providing instruction and technical support to UNB faculty, staff, and students in the use of video capture, multimedia hardware, and software.
  • Provide one-on-one support in the use of computers, multimedia software, and hardware, computer peripherals.
  • Install and update technologies and equipment and train clients on their use.
  • Track technical problems with lab equipment and assist in arranging appropriate service with IT technicians.
  • Ensure records of hardware and software installed including program versions and site licenses are kept current.
  • Assist in managing cash sales and receipts for media lab services.
  • Schedule the open-access computer lab for faculty, their classes and students.
  • Monitor inventory levels of print materials and consumables as required.
  • Ensure efficient functioning of the Media Lab including client access to equipment.
  • Assist with the scheduling and training of part-time student assistants in the operation of the lab and track student intern hours.
  • Answer email and phone inquiries of departmental inquiries.
  • Ensure the security of all lab equipment.
  • General routine maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment and facilities.
  • Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Post Secondary Education in Multimedia, Graphic Design, Video Productions, information Technology or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a media lab, multimedia production, or technical support role.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Proficiency with multimedia software and hardware, including but not limited to Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, and large-format printing equipment.
  • Certification or demonstrated proficiency in multimedia software (e.g., Adobe Certified Associate) is an asset.
  • Experience in an educational environment is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and records management skills
  • Ability to provide effective training and support to users with varying levels of technical proficiency.
  • Familiarity with large-format printing processes and equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work well in a team environment.
