Under the direction of the University Registrar, the Assistant Registrar, Student Finances plays a lead role in supporting students in meeting the financial needs of pursuing a university education. Through collaboration with various University stakeholders, the Assistant Registrar leads the development and implementation of the University's undergraduate scholarship and bursary strategy to support student recruitment and retention. The Assistant Registrar also leads the development and implementation of plans to support students in financial difficulty. This ranges from education and advising on budgeting and debt management to tactics to minimize overdue accounts and bad debt (payment plans, credit terms, promissory notes, holds and collections). Responsibilities include managing and continuously improving the University's costs and success of collections.

The Assistant Registrar, Student Finances works out of the Enrolment Services Department and reports to the University Registrar

This position is evaluated under the Administrative, Professional and Confidential staff group (APC). The annual salary range for this position is $63,000 - $78,000 + 4% in lieu of vacation.

Qualifications

To be the successful Assistant Registrar, Student Finances you will possess an Undergraduate Degree with a preference for Business related training and a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of directly related work experience. You will possess a balance of financial management expertise (collections management, scholarship forecasting and planning), strategic planning and employee management and development. The successful candidate will have demonstrated supervisory experience along with strong managerial, analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work in a cross-culture setting and provide services for a diverse population and computer competency in Microsoft Office Suite, Ellucian Banner, BOE Crystal Reports and web browser navigation is essential. Work experience with in an academic environment, financial advising or banking and/or student/youth advising is an asset.
