We're seeking a creative and highly skilled Red Seal Chef to join our growing team at the Halifax Convention Centre as Assistant Chef- Garde Manger.

We're not your average culinary department. We're a fun, supportive and creative team led by award winning international Chefs creating unique, locally sourced menus on a very large scale for some very exciting events! Our kitchen is brand new and state of the art- the biggest and newest in Halifax right now! We pride ourselves on working from scratch wherever possible, a unique quality in a high-volume kitchen like ours! 

What you'll do

Responsibilities

As part of our culinary leadership team, you'll use your 5+ years of high volume culinary experience to help shape the production of our menus and our team. This is a dynamic and challenging position, overseeing departmental functions like scheduling, stock control and planning. In addition to being a great communicator, you'll need to be hands-on, able to jump in and work alongside your team to ensure that work orders are completed to the highest standards. This is not just salad prep! Our Garde-Manger (Cold Kitchen) is a hive of activity, where you and your team will create an exciting range of cold items including sushi, charcuterie, and specialty cold-cuts. 

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • You'll need a minimum of 5 years' experience in high volume culinary production
  • Red Seal certification, or equivalent experience/qualification is a must
  • You'll need to be flexible with your availability, as we schedule according to event activity which can have us starting in the early hours of the mornings and working late into the evenings.
