This position provides day-to-day support for public affairs, corporate communications and coordination of administrative and government relations on behalf of the organization as well as internal communications and accountability reporting. 

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Support management and execution of internal engagement strategy including staff announcements and events, internal committees and other employee initiatives.

Design and implement programs to monitor and measure key strategic measures, including thorough analysis of trends and impacts and comparison to other jurisdictions when required.

Manage the annual economic impact program on behalf of Events East, including project management and internal leadership of data collection, analysis and reporting.

Serve as organization's FOIPOP liaison, including coordination and administration of FOIPOP response.

Lead execution of routine accountability reporting including liaising with internal stakeholders to gather key metrics and provide context/analysis as required.

Manage organizational charitable ticketing program in support of community relations efforts.

Support and execute corporate communications activities including briefing notes, communications plans, issues management, and organizational responses/correspondence as required.

Project management of the annual reports for the organization and its businesses, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders, budget and timeline management, writing and other duties as required.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • University degree or diploma in business, public relations, communications or equivalent skills and knowledge.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Superior project management skills with demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Highly organized, ability to work independently and under tight timelines.
  • Confidence in evaluating options and making strong recommendations on proposed solutions.

Events East

We manage and operate the Halifax Convention Centre, Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic. Created as part of a government partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality, we work in collaboration with them to manage our business in a responsible and transparent manner.

We were established in 2014 through legislation to operate, maintain and manage the activities of the Halifax Convention Centre in a manner that will promote and develop economic development, tourism and industry in the Province generally, and the Municipality.

Effective April 1, 2017, our mandate expanded to include the continued management and operations of Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic, formerly under Trade Centre Limited (TCL).

Our facilities and the events we attract are platforms for prosperity. Whether we’re attracting large delegations or hosting an elite group of athletes for an international competition, we are a catalyst for new opportunities and connections between Nova Scotia and the world.
