Responsibilities

Working within the overall Registrar's Office as part of the Admissions and Recognition of Prior Learning Team, the Admissions Specialist position is responsible for providing front line service to applicants and other College stakeholders, as well as assistance to Admissions Officers in processing student applications.

This position is responsible for the management and organization of application files and general admission inquiries within the NBCC Admissions Team and is accountable to the Associate Registrar, Admissions. Ensuring timely responses to application inquiries and managing the documents required for the completion of admission files is an integral part of the admissions process. This position plays an important role in ensuring the efficient and timely processing of NBCC admission decisions.

What you will be working on:

  • Providing outstanding customer service to prospective and current applicants, in person, by phone, via online platforms such as Microsoft Teams, and through email. Co-ordinate communication with applicants, ensuring all required documentation is sent.
  • Effective and timely communication with applicants; ensuring all required documentation is received and is consistent with NBCC's admission requirements and selection criteria.
  • Processing applications and supporting documentation in preparation for applicant review by Admissions Officers.
  • Daily collaboration with Admissions Officers to resolve questions, concerns, errors, issues or any outstanding matters regarding applicant files.
  • Accurate entry and adjustment of applicant information and status in relevant Student Information Systems.
  • Other related duties

What you'll need

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

  • A post-secondary diploma in a related field with relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with 1-year post-secondary program in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of recent and related work experience; OR 2 years post-secondary program and 2 years of recent and related work experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with related experience within an educational environment using an integrated on-line system preferably within a Registrar's Office.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary admission/registration policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work productively in both a remote/virtual independent environment, while being an active member of a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of software, comprehensive knowledge of O365 and Microsoft Teams. Experience with Oracle, Cherwell, or other database management systems.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

This is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the New Brunswick Union of Public and Private Employees collective agreement (Administrative and Program Support Services Group) for the College.
