Administrative Assistant
The Cliffs of Fundy Geopark is a tourism development along Nova Scotia's Fundy shore, from Lower Truro to Apple River, that highlights and promotes the region's extraordinary, world-renowned geology and cultural heritage.
About the role:
The Administrative Assistant is responsible for a wide range of administrative functions to include assisting with the day-to-day business operations associated with the Geopark. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for posting on several social media platforms, liaising with businesses and organizations, assisting with the development of partnerships and tracking visitor numbers, processing correspondence, assisting with staff payroll functions, and assisting the Geopark Director with grant applications and preparing presentation materials.
This is a part-time position
Office location for the position is Debert, Nova Scotia
Salary range: $18.00 per hour. 20 hour work week
Work outside the usual period of employment will be compensated through time in lieu
Qualities to succeed in the role:
Strong Interpersonal skills as applied to the interactions with the public, government organizations, community organizations, Board members, staff, and volunteers
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Capable of working independently and as part of a team
· A second language (French or Mi'kmaw), a valuable asset
· Sincere interest in this field of work and strong desire to see the Geopark succeed
· An understanding of working in an Executive and Board environment
Education and experience required:
Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution; Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Tourism, or similar field.
· Experience in database operations using Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel
· Experience using a variety of social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
· Knowledge of bookkeeping and a familiarity with Sage Accounting System, an asset
