DEPARTMENT OF FRENCH
The Department of French offers courses in language, literature, and linguistics at the undergraduate level, and administers the Centre for Resources in French which hosts activities throughout the academic term.
WHAT WE OFFER

Standard Work Hours: Variable Days | Variable Hours | 18 hours per week
Salary Range: $22.68 - $26.33 per hour
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Chair, the Secretary PL4 (Administrative Assistant) plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the department. This position involves a variety of tasks, including managing schedules, organizing meetings, and handling correspondence. The Secretary PL4 often serves as the face of the department, making a positive first impression and fostering good relationships with all stakeholders.
- Greet visitors, answer phone calls, and respond to emails.
- Provide information and assistance to students, faculty, and visitors. Address inquiries or direct to the appropriate person or department.
- Maintain financial records for various budgets.
- Provide financial information to internal and external providers.
- Edit departmental brochures and posters on an as needed basis.
- Post announcements and events on Social Media pages.
- Track upcoming events/important dates and ensure that items required are sought out.
- Maintain personnel files for those in the department.
- Other administrative duties as assigned by the Chair.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration or related field.
- 1-3 years experience in an office setting.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Strengths
- Some knowledge of French is considered a valuable asset.
- Attention to detail.
- Familiarity with office software and technology, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
- The capacity to address issues promptly and efficiently.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
