The opportunity:

As the Accountant, the incumbent will report to the Manager of Accounting & Capital Funding (MACF).
The Accountant possesses extensive knowledge in data-entry, book-keeping, accounting, and related monitoring and reporting. The Accountant is also expected to be knowledgeable in setting up and maintaining financial records, using a variety of accounting-related software/tools including the Microsoft suite e.g. excel, respond to invoicing queries, monitor, review, maintain and reconcile statements, all in compliance with relevant legal and regulatory and FACE policies.

As the Accountant, you are agile and able to pivot quickly, and have experience working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. You are an approachable supportive team player with a strong sense of urgency and a demonstrated history of achieving or surpassing goals. Essential skills also include a strong work ethic, professionalism, problem-solving. critical thinking skills and the ability to work effectively independently as well as part of a team

Overview of Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Execute day-to-day finance and accounting operations, ensuring effective policies, procedures, internal controls, and effective systems are adhered to. These include:
    ➢Full cycle bookkeeping
    ➢Prepare reconciliation of bank balances and credit card transactions
    ➢Manage GST/HST and QST filings as well as month-end and quarterly reviews.
    ➢Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner.
    ➢Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete manner.
    ➢Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data.
    ➢Preparation of working paper files for financial statements.
    ➢Provide general financial and Accountant support.
    ➢Other duties and responsibilities as and when required.
    •Collaborate with relevant partners to ensure timely and accurate transfers and other settlements.
    •Utilize predictive model financial and scenario analysis.
    •Assist, as a point of contact for financial audits and related due diligence matters.
    •Assist with proper corporate tax return filing, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
    •Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the MACF and C-Suite.
    •Provide accurate trend and spot reports as required to the MACF and C-Suite, on the financial health of the organization, including results to plan and activity-based financial analyses.
    •Be agile, adapt and pivot easily to changing circumstances.
    •Remain abreast with all legal and regulatory requirements and identify, and communicate any potential gaps or concerns.

Qualifications:

  • A DEC/Diploma in Accounting or a bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 2+ years' experience in bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency in payroll software, and Microsoft Suite e.g. Excel.
    Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.
  • Excellent conceptual & interpersonal skills with an aptitude for continuous learning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset with the ability to identify and filter out extraneous data.
  • Proficient at understanding financial modeling, financial statements, and related analysis.
  • Strong time management with ability to proactively manage deadlines, treat with obstacles, develop effective solutions/ recommendations and work within a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge and working experience with Sage Intacct (an asset).
  • Bilingual (English and French) (preferred).

Additional Information

Applications will be accepted until February 16, 2024 or untill the position is filled. Compensation may be based on skills and or prior experience in a similar capacity.
