What you'll do
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Accessibility Services, the Accessibility Support Officer (ASO) is responsible for coordinating the Testing Centre and schedule for students with disabilities who require accommodations, training and supervising proctors, assisting with technology requirements, accessibility supports (notetakers, tutors), accessible educational materials, faculty support, and assisting with projects and services of the Accessibility Services department.
The ASO is responsible for demonstrating excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a high level of student service. Must demonstrate excellent computer skills, and the aptitude to learn new technology and programs; experience using various assistive technology programs and devices is preferred. This role requires excellent organizational skills, time management, attention to detail and the ability to manage stress when dealing with complex situations. The ability to exercise judgement and discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information as well as ensuring access to secure documents and materials. Also required is a demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain positive professional and team-based relationships.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a college diploma (an undergraduate university degree is preferred), a minimum of one year of directly related experience in a service environment (Post-Secondary and/or student services preferred) and experience supporting individuals with disabilities. Demonstrated communication, organization and ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of initiative for bringing tasks to completion. Candidates must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and general office environments including an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as SharePoint and Colleague.
