What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head, Program Evaluation and Quality Assurance, the Academic Quality Assurance Review Coordinator plans, coordinates and performs the analysis of academic quality review submissions pertaining to the Academic Quality Assurance Framework and overall mission of the College.

This role works collaboratively with academic departments in the collection of appropriate documentation to meet quality review and audit criteria. This role provides thorough analysis of documentation for conformance to quality assurance standards and audit criteria, identifies gaps and suggests alternative evidence.

The Academic Quality Assurance Review Coordinator is responsible for reporting review and audit findings to the academic quality assurance team. To align with NBCC's quality programming goals, strong analytical skills and a commitment to quality improvement are required.

In this role, you will:

  • Review detailed documents and time-critical, sensitive and/or confidential information with accuracy.
  • Analyze Strategic Program Review submissions and annual audit evidence, accurately and thoroughly.
  • Critique evidence presented, requesting alternative evidence to meet requirements when needed.
  • Assess program deficiencies during the review process and report findings.
  • Responsible for identifying, reporting and tracking non-conformances.
  • Prioritize to ensure multiple reviews are completed within prescribed deadlines as per established schedules.
  • Consult with various departments to gather and/or suggest additional information regarding submitted documentation.
  • Present quality review and audit findings to the Head.
  • Responsible for maintaining quality assurance audit forms/checklists/spreadsheets.
  • Organize and compile review and audit documentation required for the task.
  • Collaborate to determine objectives for academic quality assurance committee meetings and actively participate in committee functions.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Training or qualification in administration, education or other discipline related to the position.
  • Training in and/or understanding of quality assurance, auditing, and continuous improvement processes.

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to interpret and make recommendations based on data sets.
  • Ability to think critically and suggest alternatives to meet quality requirements.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Ability to foresee deadlines and create necessary timelines for goal completion.
  • Ability to follow guidelines, procedures, and written and oral instructions.

Professional Skills:

  • Effective and courteous communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team, with both academic leaders, as well as administrative staff to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, show initiative and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to use high-level discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize while respecting multiple deadlines.
  • Strong commitment to quality and process-oriented workstyle.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and professional integrity.

Assets:

  • Prior experience working in a Post-secondary Education environment and assessment of quality documentation.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have a minimum of two years of recent and related experience.

Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License; travel will be required.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.
