The Opportunity
The International Development Studies (IDS) Program at Saint Mary's University invites applications for an eight-month position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin September 1, 2020. The successful applicant will teach five one-semester courses (equivalent to a 3/2 or 2/3 load), with preference given to those candidates able to teach the Program's required undergraduate course Introduction to Development Studies; a course in regional development (e.g. Sub-Saharan Africa, South-East Asia); and a number of special topics courses (examples include but are not limited to: Health and Development, Human Rights and Development, Migration and Development, Ethnic Minorities and the State in Development).

The International Development Studies Program offers degree Programs at the undergraduate, Master's, and PhD levels, making it the largest interdisciplinary Program at Saint Mary's University.

Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants specializing in critical approaches to development and the political economy of development. Applicants should preferably hold a PhD, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and research. ABDs near completion may be considered as well.
