The Department of Management in the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary's University invites applications for an 8-Month Limited Term Appointment (LTA), commencing November 30, 2023 to August 31, 2024 (8-month teaching contract with a 4-week paid preparatory period). The ideal candidate should be able to showcase the potential for teaching excellence, as well as a commitment to student success. Candidates are expected to uphold the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion as it pertains to teaching.


Job Information and Responsibilities


Teaching responsibilities will focus on the Introduction to Business Management course, as well as other undergraduate management courses. Introduction to Business Management (MGMT 1281) introduces students to important aspects of business management with an emphasis on helping students to critically consider business from financial, social, and ecological perspectives. In addition, the Introduction to Business Management course includes a co-curricular First Year Experience program that is focused on developing skills, attitudes, and behaviors that are associated with student success, such as time management, note taking, academic writing, reading and remembering, presenting, and collaborating with others.


Experience and Education Requirements


The minimum requirements are (i) a master's degree in business administration or a related discipline, or professional accreditation equivalent to a master's degree and (ii) potential for teaching university students.

About Sobey School of Business, Management Department


The Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary's University is a balanced teaching/research school, and it has the largest business program in the Atlantic Provinces. The Sobey School of Business consists of approximately 80 full-time faculty and offers AACSB accredited degrees at the undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels. Since 2014, the Sobey School of Business has been a PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) signatory, and a PRME Champion since 2020. The Management Department consists of 18 full-time faculty. Our faculty prides itself research excellence, in terms of both high-quality publications and attracting external funding, and the quality of its teaching.
