The salary scale for NSCC Faculty is based on steps that range from $74,170.79 - $102,223.12. New Faculty may receive up to a maximum of five steps for relevant occupational experience and may receive up to an additional four steps for full-time equivalent years of instructional experience (instructional experience is defined as teaching post-secondary). The maximum a new Faculty can expect to receive is nine steps or $95,478.45

What you will be doing…
- As a member of the School of Technology and Environment faculty team, you will provide theoretical and practical instruction in our Information Technology programs teaching courses predominantly in our IT Systems Management & Security program, as well as a very basic web design course.
- In addition to overseeing work experience in the spring, your initial teaching assignment will include, but is not limited to, the following courses; Project Management, Web Design Fundamentals, NOS Administration, Help Desk & Customer Support, Capstone (IT Systems Management & Networking student project course), Emerging Technologies, and IT Project Quality Assurance.
- You will collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners. This will include preparation, instruction, assessment, and evaluation of students using a broad range of flexible teaching and learning practices and technologies such as Learning Management Systems (e.g. Brightspace) and classroom technology.
- Related duties include but are not limited to academic and career advisement, participating on committees, program marketing, curriculum revision/development through collaborative practice within faculty working groups, supporting and monitoring work placements, liaising with business and industry, representing the College as required and upholding NSCC policies and procedures.
- You will also ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in your classroom, shops and labs. As a Faculty of NSCC, you will be expected to maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to your program and to continually develop your understanding of 21st century teaching and learning practices.
- This position may involve different delivery modalities (e.g. in-class, online, blended online/in-class), off-site instruction and alternate work hours such as weekends and evenings.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a college diploma or university degree related to Information Technology.
- You have a minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in information technology, focused on systems management and networking.
- Occupational experience that includes experience in a supervisory capacity; evaluating, monitoring, assessing and advising will be considered an asset.
- You have specific technical occupational knowledge and demonstrated skill in all of the following:
- LAN installation, configuration and maintenance (networking documentation, configuring using NAT and DHCP, troubleshooting client connectivity, SSH, VLANs, DNS, DHCP snooping, Dynamic Arp Inspection, Port Security, Port Monitoring).
- Security Threat Detection and Vulnerability Management (Client/Endpoint Security Solutions (e.g. Defender, Event logging, SysInternals, GPO's), SIEM and XDR (e.g. SecOnion, Wazuh, Trellix),network security (e.g. pcap/wireshark, VPN solutions, firewall rules), vulnerability scanning (e.g. OpenVAS and Nessus)). Familiarity with security best practices such as Access Control (File system permissions, user rights assignments, registry permissions), GPO configuration, event collectors, and standard hardening techniques.
- Proficiency in supporting Windows client devices and a deep understanding of Windows client operating systems. Proficiency with Microsoft administrative tools such as MMC, CLI and PowerShell is required. Extensive experience with Active Directory Domain Services and its supporting roles.
- Linux Server Administration (implementation of various server distros (e.g. on-prem and cloud deployment), installation and configuration of network services (e.g. DHCP, BIND, iptables, LAMP), monitoring and troubleshooting (e.g. configuration management, log analysis), security implementations (e.g. server hardening, SSH, SSL, OpenVPN, RADIUS)).
- Designing, implementing, and managing hybrid cloud solutions leveraging Windows Server and Microsoft Azure services.
- IT Project Management and Quality Assurance (documentation, terminology, and software necessary for effective participation in project team environments (e.g. PMBOK, Agile SCRUM), QA testing strategies (e.g. automating/documenting test case execution, continuous integration pipelines, infrastructure as code), feasibility analysis, requirements gathering, designing/documenting technical solutions, IT procurement processes).
- Website development technologies (HTML / CSS) including an elementary understanding of website design principles in terms of usability (Alignment, Contrast, Proximity, etc.). Experience with Interface design tools such as Figma.
- Developing and maintaining documentation for technical training.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective and timely technical assistance and support to end-users. This includes:
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to diagnose and resolve a wide range of hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Experience with ticket management systems and the ability to document support activities accurately.
- Be capable of explaining technical concepts to individuals with varying levels of technical understanding and be committed to continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Any of the following technical knowledge and skills may also be considered an asset:
- IT Service Management/Delivery
- Supporting wireless networks
- Cisco, Ubiquiti Unifi
- VMware vSphere
- Azure Labs
- AWS, Azure, Google Cloud (compute, storage, architecture)
- M365 Administration
- MFA
- Experience developing and maintaining self-service knowledge bases or support documentation
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and E-Mail.
- You possess basic internet skills to search for information coupled with internet information skills to evaluate the information you find. Above all, you are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in support of an exceptional student experience.
- You have demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in your field.
- Ideally, you have related experience in delivery of educational programs or training to adults
- You have knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety and occupation-specific safety practices.
- You are comfortable using multi-media technologies and a variety of platforms that will serve to engage students in online and blended learning capacities. The ability to teach effectively in an online/blended environment which includes building knowledge of best practices for the delivery and management of courses delivered whole or in part online, using a course management system to communicate with students and to foster and support a collaborative online learning community with and between students will be an important factor in your success. Candidates who do not have previous online/blended teaching experience must be open to and willing to participate in training for this delivery model.

As a condition of employment, Faculty at NSCC must complete a part-time adult education program delivered by NSCC. This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status, all probationary, full or part-time Faculty of the College must successfully complete the program within their probationary period.
