The salary scale for Professional Support 3 is based on twelve steps that range from $65,538.83 - $89,827.70. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $78,68087 annually.

What you will be doing…

Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Student Recruitment and with strong connectivity to the Strait Area Campus, you will:

Work both collaboratively and autonomously to contribute to NSCC's Nautical Institute's maritime-wide recruitment agenda through the development of a diverse pool of prospective students. You understand the competitive post-secondary landscape and the importance of championing the NSCC student experience and connection to industry through superior service delivery and demonstrated care for our prospects, applicants and students.

This role encompasses recruitment strategy and activities in both a geographical territory and across diverse groups. You will focus on creating opportunities for all students pursuing Marine programming with an emphasis on Mi'kmaq, Indigenous students and Women to consider NSCC as a chosen educational pathway. This role will contribute to building and nurturing partnerships with Mi'kmaq communities, agencies which support Indigenous learners and to support students through their application and transition to NSCC. Responsibilities include; identifying opportunities, working collaboratively with NSCC stakeholders and building recruitment capacity College wide.

The Student Recruitment Coordinator role actively develops and delivers presentations and represents NSCC through recruitment, community and industry events. Additionally, the successful candidate will assist in Social Media outreach, development and execution of the three-year Marine programming recruitment plan. Tracking and analysis of data that informs decisions in Student Recruitment.

Intimate knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing and being is required to liaise with prospective students and their communities and Mi'kmaq supporting agencies. This position requires extensive travel and the ability to work a flexible schedule

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree or a college advanced diploma with specific training in communications and strategic planning.
  • You have a minimum of three years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in student services, recruitment, marketing, or a related field.
  • You have experience engaging and supporting Indigenous students, communities and /or organizations.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-maill, social media platforms and CRM platforms
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience

Relevant Skills and Knowledge

  • You demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility and anti-racism
  • You have excellent public speaking skills and the ability to make effective recruitment presentations
  • You demonstrate a high level of Indigenous cultural acumen to ensure cultural protocols are observed and implemented
  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to interact with a diversity of people and support resolution of issues
  • You are known for your superior customer service skills and can create a relationship of trust beyond the immediate interaction
  • Your superb team working skills enable you to contribute positively to a team environment
  • You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in digital environments to engage with students across multiple platforms (social media, CRM, webinars)
  • You are known for your problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • You are a strong communicator
  • You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to logistics, planning and executing special events on and off campus student recruitment events)
  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities to use student databases, communication systems and digital platforms specifically related to student recruitment
  • A valid driver's license is required for this position.

As a condition of employment, Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete a two-year (part-time) adult education program delivered by NSCC. This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete the program within their probationary period. Term full-time Professional Support employees whose term appointment is twelve or more months are also required to participate in this program.
