What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • The Employment Specialist is responsible to the College/campus for the facilitation and support of employability skill development for participants with disabilities in Achieve Program.
  • As a member of the Achieve Program you will work closely with employers, the business community and service providers.
  • You will provide leadership and guidance that will enable persons with disabilities to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for long-term employment. Specifically, you will support the development of employability skills, provide job coaching and coordinate work experiences.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary diploma in human services, social services or related discipline.
  • You have a minimum of three years of recent and related occupational experience supporting persons with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.
  • Occupational experience that includes facilitating workshops or groups or with adult education would be considered an asset.
  • You have experience and are proficient with computer applications such as Brightspace, Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
  • Experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
