Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

  • Working in a dedicated team environment and reporting to the Manager of Student Services, you will provide a full range of administrative support services, with an emphasis on providing superior customer service to students, faculty, staff and the public.
  • Working collaboratively with the other Administrative Assistant for Student Services, you will accurately and in a timely manner prepare confirmation of enrollment letters, print transcripts, and maintain current and historical student files. You will respond to walk-in requests, phone calls, and electronic inquiries related to student files and programming and services at the College. You will assist with enrollments and registrations related to campus courses and programs. You will provide support to special events such as Convocation, Orientation, Open House and Get Started. You will also be responsible for organizing campus tours and the campus Test Drive program, all while working collaboratively with campus and provincial teams reflecting NSCC's Student Affairs integrated service delivery model.
  • The successful candidate will be fully cross trained to support our student and administrative services teams.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business or Office Administration combined with a minimum of two years' recent and related experience in a fast-paced office environment. Or you have the recognized equivalency of a high school diploma with significant (10+) years of administrative experience.
  • Occupational experience in the following would be considered an asset:
    • a front-line customer service role in a post-secondary institution
    • Operating Point of Sale systems
    • Handling cash, debit and credit card transactions
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, Microsoft Teams (or other video conference and instant messaging applications) and PeopleSoft (or other large enterprise information systems).
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset
