The Policy and Privacy Analyst is responsible for developing, writing, and updating corporate policies, and maintaining the corporate Access to Information and Privacy Practice that defines, develops, and maintains a framework of policies, best practices, processes, and corporate training programs. The Analyst acts as the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) Administrator and supports the Corporate Affairs Business Unit by providing, direction, project management and expert advice to fulfill the NSLC's policy and privacy mandate.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in the writing and development of new corporate policies, identify policy gaps and make amendments to existing NSLC policies as required.
  • Lead the NSLC's corporate policy review, work with Business Units to ensure that policies remain current and complete.
  • Provide research, analysis, planning, and recommendations to enhance policy development and support decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development or modification of regulations relevant to the NSLC's policy framework.
  • Act as the NSLC's FOIPOP Administrator ,prepare responses to access requests and liaise with the OPIC on access review matters.
  • Educate and advise to Business Units on access and privacy matters.
  • Oversee NSLC privacy reporting requirements as outlined in Provincial privacy legislation.
  • Manage the NSLC's privacy practice; conduct privacy impact assessments, respond to privacy incidents and complaints, maintain and monitor the privacy risk register.
  • Contribute to decision making by researching, analyzing, and developing options and recommendations for policy and privacy initiatives.
  • Advise, and coordinate on policy and privacy matters with other business units, the Province, and or external partners as required.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Support the Director, Corporate Affairs on inter-governmental issues
  • Promote and support effective policy and privacy planning, participating in working groups as required
  • Assist in the development of communication plans and other material related to the implementation of privacy and policy initiatives
  • Facilitate and support the application of standardized processes and policies to comply with government policies, procedures, and accountability mechanisms
  • Monitor emerging policy trends and risks, participate in inter-governmental forums and working groups and share expertise and knowledge
  • Demonstrate commitment to our Values and CSR mandate
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What you'll need

Qualifications

As a qualified candidate, you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in public or business administration
  • Minimum of three years' experience in policy analysis or related public administration
  • Experience in policy analysis and development, government relations, communications, or related work with increasing levels of responsibility

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • Experience working in a crown corporation or other government entity
  • IAPP/C Certification and or previous work experience related to the management of a privacy practice

An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
