What you'll do

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Manager of Philanthropy and Engagement, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful operation of a comprehensive stewardship program that involves multiple stakeholders including executives, Board Members, and key volunteers. You will help grow and evolve the Foundation and Alumni Relations' stewardship and donor engagement program and contribute to the delivery of exceptional donor experiences. As a member of the Development team, you will work closely with the entire Foundation and Alumni Relations team.

You will work closely on fundraising and special events to deliver comprehensive and strategic stewardship initiatives that demonstrate the impact of giving and support the Foundation and Alumni Relations' strategic goals.

You are responsible for the delivery of agreed-upon stewardship activities and honoring donor gift intent as set out in the donor recognition plans and gift agreements. You will be responsible for communicating the impact of donor and partner contributions through creative storytelling, personalized reporting and using a variety of communication channels. You will be required to track reporting requirements and timelines set by external funding partners and work internally with stakeholder departments to complete reporting requirements.

The NSCC Foundation and Alumni Relations has recently released a new strategic plan: Community, Connection, Commitment. This role will be integral in ensuring that all donor/partner storytelling and impact reporting align with the implementation of this plan.

Foundation staff are required to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum education qualification for this position is a degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Fundraising or the equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • You have a minimum of 3 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related experience in a fast-paced office environment of a fundraising organization and database experience, preferably a CRM database; ideally Raiser's Edge.

  • You have strong communications skills, including experience in writing and drafting publications, reports or proposals. Experience writing for different communication channels would be considered an asset.

  • You have experience in the planning and execution of events. Experience in planning stewardship or donor events would be considered an asset.

  • You have project management experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising processes and systems; and familiarity with Association of Fundraising Professionals ethics and standards would be considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated capacity to handle high volume of strictly confidential matters with discretion and tact.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategies that strengthen long-term relationships with major donors and/or partners.

  • Understanding of current and emerging best practices in stewardship and donor engagement.

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office suite. Experience with the Adobe Suite would be considered an asset.

  • A valid NS Driver's Licence would be considered an asset.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Donor Cycle.
  • Ability to direct, influence and manage several functions simultaneously.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Advancement principles including capital campaigns, planned giving, major gifts, legacy gifts, etc.
  • Strong sense of ethics, professionalism and patience.
