Reporting to the Manager of Learning and Development, the Professional Development Consultant (PDC) is responsible for providing consultation, service and support related to learning, organizational development and personal and professional development for individuals, and teams. The PDC contribute to organizational success through the assessment, design, implementation, and evaluation of strategic development programs. This role is the expert and person-centred adult educator who demonstrates leadership in developing and supporting education, personal and professional growth, organizational learning and organizational development amongst the NSLC workforce.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and advice in the needs assessment, design, and implementation of training and development interventions to insure the NSLC workforce possesses the skills necessary to perform the required work.
  • Participates actively in the capacity development of employees, and leadership through identification of knowledge gaps, providing coaching and mentorship, providing feedback and sharing resources and knowledge
  • Develops and delivers learning programs and sessions to optimize interprofessional collaboration and develop capacity at the individual, team, program, and organizational level.
  • Identifies, develops, implements, and evaluates innovative supports and resources for use by individual and teams of leaders to support and sustain the leadership skill development of their team.
  • Consults on selected individual skills needs assessments of employees and makes recommendations regarding solutions to knowledge gaps.
  • Provide leadership in the development of a learning organization while making efficient use of the assets of the NSLC including human, technological, and monetary assets.
  • Disseminates knowledge related to practice through role modeling, consultation, presentation and/or publication.
  • Identifies, develops, implements, and evaluates innovative supports and resources for use by individual and teams of leaders to support and sustain their leadership development.
  • Consults on selected individual learning needs assessments of new employees and makes recommendations regarding solutions to knowledge gaps.
  • Provide leadership and support on strategic projects in the areas of learning and organizational development needs assessment, educational design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Provides leadership in the development of team visions; values; agreements and ways of working; and strategy development
  • Develops and/or supports change management initiatives through implementation strategies and processes as well as collaborating to integrate new programs and/or other change initiatives within the organization and partners with others involved in promoting and supporting change.
  • Collaborating with other consultants across the organization, mobilizes resources, networks, and people to promote and support strategic initiatives and organizational development at the individual, group, and organizational level
  • Develops and implements and evaluates individual learning plans in consultation with managers, HR Business Partners and/or Regional Directors.
  • Provides leadership and collaboration with organizational performance development Initiatives

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, mentoring and development opportunities for employees including appropriate cross-training and succession planning initiatives.
  • Facilitates the learning cycle and processes for meeting the complex and diverse learning and professional practice needs of a high number and diverse groups.
  • Monitor and stay current in the emerging fields of blended learning, e-learning, performance management, and leadership development.
  • Models' professional behaviors including but not limited to development of collaborative and interprofessional relationships with internal and external partners; involvement in professional organizations; engagement in lifelong learning activities; dissemination of information through publications/presentations and/or advocacy.
  • Assist in the development and achievement of business unit and corporate business objectives; achieve individual objectives as assigned
  • Demonstrate commitment to the NSLC's Values and social responsibility mandate
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned; travel, primarily within the province as required

What you'll need

Qualifications

As a qualified candidate, you will have:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in a relevant discipline
  • At least five years' of increasingly responsible experience in human resources in the adult education field and/or organizational development field:
    • Educational program design, implementation, and evaluation
    • Application of adult learning theory
    • Strategic organizational development
  • Experience in facilitation with a focus in team building, conflict resolution, collaboration, communication
  • Significant experience in leading performance improvement interventions
  • Experience with application of person-centred and adult learning theory required
  • Demonstrated excellence with educational program design, implementation and evaluation including teaching and learning facilitation at the individual, small and large group level required

As an ideal candidate you will also have:

  • CHRP or equivalent designation
  • Certification, diploma or designation related to professional development
  • Recent experience in the application of technology to HR services
