The Opportunity
The Technical Architect is responsible for the provision of administrative and technical support related to vendor evaluation, design, planning, architecting, implementation and day-to-day operation of the server, network, and storage environment. They establish and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with outside vendors, IT Project Teams, and other IT department support staff to deliver enhancements and consistent support to corporate IT environments. The Technical Architect is a well-rounded professional, a technically adept team-player, leader, and mentor, with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, good communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
- Builds and supports the long-term strategic roadmap, in one or more areas, for all IT infrastructure architecture which includes: servers and storage, virtualization, networking, databases, backup, replication, datacenter technologies, cloud solutions, local and wide area network, telephone and disaster recovery systems
- Works closely with Team Lead-IT Infrastructure, Director-IT Services, DirectorÂIT Portfolio Delivery, and third-party vendors to deliver robust and scalable infrastructure solutions, improve existing infrastructure capabilities and review and provide recommendations on new technologies
- Run diagnostics, troubleshoot, and test hardware, operating system, and customized software
- Analyze and repair Windows and Linux network and O/S issues
- Maintain effective operating conditions of equipment, including regular back-ups of system
- Regularly run a suite of administrative applications to meet contractual service levels
- Generate application output for management review
- Conduct hardware preventative maintenance
- Manage vendor Service Level Agreements
- Provide 24x7 On-call Emergency support as required
Secondary Responsibilities
- Understand key business processes and corporate plans and recommend architectural improvements to the IT environment to keep pace with industry standard practices and business objectives
- Provide technical direction/expertise for internal infrastructure projects
- Provide leadership and mentoring to other IT support staff
- Contribute to, and execute as needed, disaster recovery and business continuity planning
- Maintain installation, configuration and design documentation for all network, software, and operating system environments

What you'll need
Qualifications
As a qualified candidate, you will have:
- A university degree or diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent
- 8-10 years' experience in a senior technical lead role
- Proficiency with Virtual Environments
- Networking troubleshooting and configuration
As an ideal candidate you will also have:
- Proficiency with VMware ESX, Storage Area Networks
- Networking troubleshooting and configuration: LAN, WAN, VPN, TCP/IP, VLANS, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, Routers, Switches and Firewalls
- Knowledge of leading-edge hardware (Hyper-converged infrastructure, Rack/Blade Servers, SAN Technologies, next-generation firewall, enterprise switches/routers)
- Knowledge of leading-edge technologies (e g. Internet and Intranet, Web Services, Application Integration, Azure/Google Cloud, SD-WAN)
- Proficiency in the following software/applications, installation, and administration: Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Microsoft Exchange & Exchange Hybrid, Azure AD, Active Directory & Active Directory Federation Services, Office 365, SharePoint, Web Servers (IIS & Apache), Linux Operating Systems (SUSE, CENTOS); Unified Communications (VoIP, Video Conferencing, and Presence technologies); Network Security; Client, Server & Web
- Certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, VMWare, Fortigate, Dell
