Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing marketing initiatives that are designed to engage, educate and inspire customers; enhance NSLC's brand in the marketplace; and contribute to delivering on the NSLC's goals and objectives. The Marketing Specialist provides subject matter expertise related to marketing and works collaboratively as a key member of the NSLC's Insights & Customer Engagement Team to bring plans to life with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee marketing plans, from creative brief to program execution, budget reconciliation and measurement, within established set of objectives
  • Analyze marketing program results and develop insights that drive informed decisions and recommendations for the NSLC and our partners
  • Work cross functionally with Insights, Learning & Development, Communications, Corporate Strategy & Responsibility and Category Team members to provide recommendations and implement integrated programs for our team, customers and partners
  • Act as first contact and guide with advertising agencies, suppliers, and other internal and external stakeholders in support of marketing initiatives
  • Manage and facilitate communications to our store network, internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless integration of marketing initiatives
  • Manage marketing program budgets and be accountable for reporting on and adjusting as required
  • Monitor, track, and report on program performance, staying up to date with industry and marketing trends and best practices to recommend solutions back to the business
  • Working with the Marketing Manager, provide marketing support and make recommendations in support of the department and company's business goals

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and achievement of annual business unit plans, objectives, and budget; achieve individual objectives as assigned
  • Proactively identify opportunities, initiating and implementing new ideas to improve our current systems and procedures within Marketing
  • Demonstrate commitment to the NSLC's social responsibility mandate and our values
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Perform other related duties as assigned; involves some travel primarily within Nova Scotia

What you'll need

Qualifications

As a qualified candidate you will have:

  • A Undergraduate degree with a focus in Marketing, Public Relations or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a marketing or communications role

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • Experience working with or in an advertising agency, in a project management capacity
  • Experience working in a retail or consumer packaged goods organization

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
