Reporting to the VP, Customer Experience, the Senior Regional Director is responsible for all store operations within the province. The Senior Regional Director drives the customer experience culture in retail stores and models the NSLC's values while respecting the social responsibility mandate. In addition, the Senior Regional Director is responsible to support the development and implementation of corporate and business unit strategies, operational plans, and policies to ensure achievement of NSLC business objectives, present and future.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop a solid, effective management team to lead the delivery of world-class customer experience
  • Empower and motivate Directors and all employees to actively participate in the operation and improvement of the NSLC
  • Model the NSLC's values and educate Directors, Managers, employees, and other stakeholders to drive the appropriate organizational values within their teams
  • Build an effective partnership with all other business units and unions through an open, positive, and collaborative approach
  • Ensure customer experience skills, merchandising standards and store policies and procedures are developed and maintained within the province
  • Manage all aspects of customer relations
  • Compile, prepare and monitor budgets and adjust as required to succeed
  • Meet or exceed budget targets for the province through effective revenue generating tactics and expense controls
  • Liaise and support the needs between the NSLC, Head Office and the retail stores
  • Train, mentor and develop retail employees to fulfill customer promise and ensure succession planning
  • Ensure effective implementation of programs and initiatives at store level
  • Provide organization direction as a contributing member of the senior management team

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Ensure all stores operate within the NSLC social responsibility programs and established policies relevant to legislation, to prevention of underage purchases
  • Identify and implement new strategies pro-actively that will ensure the future success of the business unit
  • Provide strong leadership with a focus on coaching and mentoring to develop and maintain a competent, efficient, and motivated team
  • Determine performance objectives, and provide Directors with regular performance feedback and formal performance appraisals as required
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with other Boards, management levels, union representatives, and representatives of distilleries, wineries, and breweries
  • Participate on NSLC community and cross functional initiatives directly and in collaboration with HR, participate in and provide direction in the resolution of labour & employee issues, recruitment & selection, and contribute to the maintenance of standardization of practices throughout the organization
  • Provide input and direction to the negotiation of collective agreements
  • Monitor and manage attendance in the region
  • Conduct regular store reviews
  • Respond to audit reports and ensure compliance
  • Demonstrate commitment to the NSLC's Values and social responsibility mandate
  • Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, daily travel, primarily within the province

What you'll need

Qualifications

As a qualified candidate you will have:

  • Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline such as Business Administration or Retail Management
  • 5 years management experience in a retail organization with proven successful results

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • Previous Regional Management experience in a multi-site retail operation
  • Experience retailing regulated product
  • Management experience in a unionized environment
