Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

You will provide technical assistance for projects led by the Research Scientists. This involves assisting with day-to-day operations of a project to meet the research objectives and commitments with collaborating partners and funding agencies. On a daily basis, you may be working on one or more research projects. This position may conduct fieldwork in support of data acquisition missions which may require both indoor and outside working environments. Innovative and committed to life-long learning, the Research Associate is a creative self-starter with a commitment to research excellence.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an advanced diploma and/or a degree in the related field or discipline specific to the nature of the research project natural resources, environmental science, biology, horticulture, and agriculture.
  • You have a minimum of two years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork.
  • Occupational experience that includes crop management, crop sampling, soil sampling, and nutrient analysis, as well as running pot to plot level field experiments would be considered an asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail,
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset

Relevant Skills and Knowledge

  • You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in LiCor 6800 photosynthetic system, Auto analyzer, high performance liquid chromatograph, using environmental chambers)
  • You are known for your problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to related to setting up, managing and conduct research projects
  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to working with industry, associations, and/or not for profit organizations
  • You have strong project management skills related to research activities
